Embroidery FAQ

General Process & Capabilities

What types of garments or items can be embroidered?

We focus mainly on apparel. Because our machines are commercial we are limited on sewing inside small areas. Our machine has to be able to move freely without causing the item to loose it’s mounting causing loss of registration.

Most instances if there is a question send us a picture of where you want the design placed and we will let you know if there are any limitations.

What is the maximum embroidery size or stitch area?

Left chest size is typically 4” wide by 3.5” tall

Full front or back designs on shirts 10”wide by 14” tall.

Short sleeves 3.5” wide 2” tall

Can you match thread colors to my brand or logo colors?

We do have a deep inventory of colors and can get close, but we cannot guarantee exact match of shade and tone unless the colors are custom made. Custom colors require longer turn times 3 months in advance in most cases.

Do you offer 3D puff embroidery or specialty threads (metallic, glow, etc.)?

We do offer 3D and Metallic threads as a premium service.

We have access to threads that glow or change colors in sunlight (photochromic).

Can you embroider on customer-supplied garments?

We can but it is not our practice. We will consider these instances on a case-by-case basis.

Artwork & Digitizing

What kind of artwork do you need for embroidery?

Machine ready embroidery files that end in .dst or .emb are accepted. These are commercial ready and are configured to provide the best results.

If all you have vector art these extensions are best. .svg, .ai, .eps, .cdr and some pdf files saved from a vector creation work best and typically will not require an artist to recreate them to make ready for embroidery digitizing (software that creates a sewing file out of a graphic.

You can supply 1200x1200 pixel .bmp, .jpg, .png, .pdf for best quality to work from.

What is “digitizing” and why is there a setup fee?

Digitizing is the process of setting your graphic up to be produced on an embroidery machine. Each stitch of thread has x,y coordinates where the needle is told to create a side by side stitches to color your design into the substrate with thread. The thickness of the thread can very making it very fine and detailed or thicker to create a 3D texture that can be seen and felt.

Can you edit an existing embroidery file (.DST, .EXP, etc.)?

Yes, we can and typically do if there is text that needs to be added or removed for a 15.00 edit fee. Any other changes typically are defined as a new setup and require full charge for the service.

How do I approve a sew-out sample before production?

Our software will create a virtual mockup that will be emailed to you for approval. It shows placement and colors used on your purchased garment.

We also can provide physical proofs in the form of a swatch for a $15.00 sew out fee.

Can you use the same digitized file for different garment types?

If a design has been set up to run on a tight woven shirt it is not always as useful for sewing on a hat.

If it was set up to run on a shirt it may not be dense enough to run the same file on a fuzzy blanket or towel. The design may allow parts of the towel or blanket to push up between the stitches after the item is washed a few times.

Turnaround & Orders

What is your standard turnaround time for embroidery orders?

10 business days

Do you offer rush service?

Yes 1-3 day turn time add $75.00 fee or 30% to the order whichever is greater.

4-6 day turn time add $25.00 or 20% to the order whichever is greater.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

6 pieces

What happens if I need to add more pieces after my order is started?

We can try to accommodate them but it may change the delivery date to avoid setting up the machine for the same job twice.

Quality & Finishing

How do you ensure consistent placement and stitching quality?

We train our staff to use mounting jigs designed to help our consistency for standard industry placement of designs.

Do you remove backing or stabilizer after stitching?

Yes, our quality control team trims and cleans the decoration area so goods are ready to wear straight from our shop.

Can I mix embroidery and print decoration on the same garment?

Yes, if they do not encroach on one another.
